Social networks are all the rage.  So, I figured it was about time to get involved myself.  I guess it only makes sense to understand the technology so that you can relate to the students in a way they are familiar with.

To take it a step further, I'd like to get some ideas as to what other teachers (and students) feel about leveraging a social network in the classroom.

This site seems pretty straightforward and, obviously, geared to education (as opposed to MySpace, Facebook, and the others).

I guess it can't be a bad thing.

I don't think it's a bad thing either. In fact, it's probably a really good thing. There is an article on this site that does a pretty good job explaining how a simple conversation snowballs if everyone gets involved.

Using Social Networking Technology in the Classroom

It's an interesting thought and it's definitely the way technology is leading our world.

Obviously, kids today live and breathe with social networks. Using one that is a social network for teachers, specifically, is a pretty good idea in my opinion.

Im working on getting organized and will probably leverage one in my classroom soom - or next year. Probably here, it's pretty straightforward, but if anyone knows of others, let us know.
